Blue Streaks Earn Top Ten Finish At NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Women's Cross Country Championship

Emily Tillmaand wrapped up her collegiate career with a second consecutive top 100 finish at the Great Lakes Regional Championship
With five individual runners in the top 100, the John Carroll Blue Streaks earned a top ten team finish at the 2009 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Women's Cross Country Championship Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Final Results

Calvin College captured its third consecutive and was joined by Oberlin College as an automatic team qualifier for next weekend's national meet. Calvin scored 50 points to finish well ahead of Oberlin (120) and Case Reserve (130). John Carroll (336) edged Ohio Northern (338) for ninth place overall and second amongst Ohio Athletic Conference teams.

Individually, freshman Ashley Aberl was the top placer for the Blue Streaks. She finished 39th in a time of 23:41.24.

Senior Trish Doherty and Emily Tillmaand were next across for John Carroll. Doherty tucked into the top 50 by placing 47th in 23:54.23, while Tillmaand finished in a time of 24:30.41 that earned her 72nd place.

Rounding out the scorers for the Blue Streaks were junior Kelly Grieve, who was 88th in 24.47.98, and freshman Christina Oles, who was 95th in 24:55.07.

John Carroll improved five spots from last year when it placed 14th in the Great Lakes Regional meet.
