Madeleine Finton And Beachwood Earn Top Performer Poll Wins

In the aftermath of 1600m and 4x400m relay victories, Madeleine Finton and the Beachwood Bison squad have secured the latest MileSplit Ohio Performer of the Week wins.

Finton claimed her victory at the WATTS during YSU Meet No. 4, where she became the second female competitor state-wide to drop a sub-5 minute mark in the event during the 2022 indoor season.

Her 4:58.87 effort stations her behind only Morgan Monesmith in Ohio's overall rankings and places her in the top 40 nationally

She's been steadily improving in the 1600 during the course of her 2022 starts. She opened in early January at the Comets Open in 5:17.96, then lowered her mark to 5:08.33 at YSU Meet No. 2 and subsequent to that ran 5:06.90 at the Scholastic Showcase. This all led in to her new personal best clocking during her most recent outing.

This marked Finton's third individual win of the season which complemented the aforementioned 1600 at Capital plus a 3200m triumph at that very same meet.

Some of the best 4x400m racing of the season was displayed at last Friday's NEOITC All Star Meet, where BeachwoodCleveland Heights and Chardon were locked in a spirited battle during all four relay legs.

The Bison prevailed with a state-leading mark of 3:25.05, which puts them in great standing heading in to next week's OATCCC State Championships

Nationally speaking, Beachwood now resides at No. 21 on the leaderboard following their season's best performance.
