Foot Locker Nationals

The Foot Locker Nationals marks the end of the 2009 High School Cross country season.  The annual race at Balboa Park in San Diego California features the top individual prep runners from across the nation.  Ohio's lone representative this year was Colby Alexander (pictured at right, photo by Margot Kelly), a senior from Strongsville.

Alexander finished the race in 38th place in a time of 16:19.  His Midwest team finished the meet in third place and was lead by super sophomore Lukas Verzbicas of Illinois, who won the meet by 15 seconds over the runner up, crossing the line in a time of 15:08.

Kent State Golden Flash Gala

Indoor Track is now getting into swing and we have seen the first sightings of Ohio high school runners at some meets.  Gahanna Lincoln's Blake Heriot, running for the PaceSetters Track Club posted a new US #1 in the 500m Dash with a 1:05.20 at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala.  Heriot finished second overall in the 500m Dash at the meet while competing against college athletes.
