Races of The Weekend: Erbach, Beeks, Fackler, Mt. Gilead

Xander Fackler (Bryan) at the 2022 UF Dave's Running High School Series #3

The end of the indoor track and field season is on the horizon, which also means the conclusion of several high school series that were being held throughout the state in the span of these past few months.

The final installment of the Tiffin U. - High School Open Series took place this Sunday at the Tiffin University Heminger Center, and it certainly did not disappoint, as there were some athletes and races that highlighted the day.

See below for those performances.

Samantha Erbach (Waynesville 2024)

Kicking us off is Waynesville Junior Samantha Erbach, who took first in both the 800m and 3200m Run, taking it straight from the spark and lead from gun to tape in both races, and setting an indoor personal best in the 3200m, settling her at OH #18.

3200m Run (11:19.56)

Ava Beeks (Perrysburg 2025)

The next Race of The Weekend is from someone who also won this event at the previous installment of the Tiffin U. - High School Open Series, this time, just like Erbach, lead from gun to tape.

Perrysburg Sophomore Ava Beeks won in dominant fashion and left it all in that race, winning by a staggering 18 seconds for a big personal best of 5:05.18, which improves upon her 5:13.74 that she ran at Tiffin U. - High School Open #2.

This ranks her OH #11 in the event.

Xander Fackler (Bryan 2024)

Bryan Junior Xander Fackler had quite a day doubling both the 1600m and 3200m Run.

Fackler won the 1600m, leading from gun to tape, and closing spectacularly to improve upon his indoor personal best for the third time this indoor track and field season with a time of 4:33.12.

This is the third time he has ran the event this season and has improved over 10 seconds, going from a 4:43.65 at LAB Holiday Invite, to 4:37.73 at Sid Sink High School Open, to this performance at Tiffin U. - High School Open #3.

Mt. Gilead Boy's 4x200m Relay

The final race to close out this recap came from the second heat of the Boy's 4x200m Relay, where Mt. Gilead had a stunning third and anchor leg performance, coming in from third place to eventually closing the lead on Genoa, who was in front for most of the race until the final 100 meters.

This performance landed them second place overall with a 1:38.98 performance.
