Ali Tolich of Austintown Fitch, last year's runner up in the weight throw at the 2009 OATCCC Indoor State Meet, started up right where she finished last year, throwing the 20lb. weight 46 feet. Tolich's toss of 46-7 is a personal best, the current OH #1 mark, and the US #5 mark.
As a team, Bishop Hartley had quite a nice day. Their 4x200m Relay team ran a OH #1 mark by crossing the line in 1:45.64. Bishop Hartley also had two different athletes set individual OH #1 marks: the first being Aisha Cavin who ran 25.16 in the 200m dash; and the second being Chesna Sykes who ran the 60m dash in 7.70, which besides being an OH #1 mark is also the US #9 mark.
On the guys side, the field events really shined this weekend. Starting with the Pole Vault, Olentangy Liberty's Joey Uhle cleared 15-6 to set the OH #1 mark and also tie the US #5 mark. OH #1 marks were also set in both the triple jump and long jump. In the triple jump, Antonio Blanks of Dunbar hop, skipped, and jumped his way to a state leading 45-1, while Adrian Anderson of Collinwood jumped 22-3 to take the lead in the Long Jump.
Moving onto the throws, Canfield's Dustin Brode had a stellar day, setting two top 10 US marks, the first coming in the weight throw where he tossed the 25lb. ball a US #3 66-1. Brode also threw a US #4 in the shot put by heaving the shot 61-9 to take second place to Matt Hoty of Perkins, who posted the OH #1 and US #2 mark in the shot put by throwing 62-7. George Thomas' weight throw of 63-9 to take second place is also the US #4 mark.
Trotwood-Madison put together the best boy's team performance, setting OH #1 marks in both the 4x200m relay (1:30.12, US #3) and in the 4x400m relay (3:25.59, US #9). Individually for Trotwood-Madison, Julius Ruby (60m dash in 7.11, OH #1) and Will Henry (200m dash in 22.12, US #8), had exceptional performances.
The hurdles were also another bright spot of the Akron Jerome Fields Meet, as two top 10 US marks were posted. Herman Washington of Gahanna Lincoln posted a 8.28 in the 60m hurdles, which is also the US #9 mark. The US #10 mark was ran by Jashawn Combs of Stivers who crossed the line just a hundredth of second behind Washington in 8.29.
