Reflection: Simon Heys

With the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship set to take place in Myrtle Beach this weekend, many of the Ohio native colleges and universities are slated to compete for the coveted titles, including one that has made a name for himself not just in Ohio, but in the country as well.

Simon Heys, 2019 graduate from Wilmington, now representing Wilmington College, has found a place as one of the greatest distance runners to set foot in the Ohio Athletic Conference along with Division III, holding countless conference titles and All-American honors across all seasons through the trails and on the track.

This weekend, he is slated to compete for the top spot in the nation in both the 5000m and 10000m Run, one of the most difficult event combinations to pull off just off of its sheer volume and intensity of racing less than 48 hours apart from each other.

We managed to catch up with him and bring him on MileSplit Ohio for an interview while he was down in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
