Gatorade Ohio Girls Player Of The Year: Daniela Scheffler

After having a historic final high school cross-country season this past fall, Uniontown Lake senior and NC State commit Daniela Scheffler (Uniontown Lake 2025) was named the 2024-2025 Gatorade Ohio Girls Cross-Country Player of the Year.

The Gatorade Player of the Year award is arguably one of the most prestigious honors for high school athletes who represent excellence both on and off the field. It is based on a variety of factors such as athletic achievements, academics (GPA, class rank, academic distinctions, and exam scores), and the impact that the individual has on the community.

For Scheffler, she capped her final year of high school cross country on a stellar note, going undefeated throughout the entire OHSAA season and following up with a state championship title and a fifth-place finish at the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional competition, where she punched her ticket to Nike Cross Nationals and took home All-American honors with her tenth-place finish in Portland.

Looking forward, she is set to don the red and white of the NC State Wolfpack next fall, one of the top distance programs in the country and a team that has also had some of Ohio's top talent sign to: Samantha Bush (Turpin 2019) and Grace Hartman (Oakwood 2022).
