FOUR CLASS OF 2029 ATHLETES SURFACE AT THE TOP
Mannon and Stockman go 1-2 in the freshman discus, Alexander ties for the high jump lead, Hogendoorn moves to third in the 100m.
Four new class of 2029 athletes have climbed to the top of Ohio's 2026 freshman outdoor leaderboards in the first few weeks of April. Colton Mannon and Colt Stockman have put up back-to-back throws that dominate the freshman discus list, while Olivia Alexander and Addison Hogendoorn have made early statements in the field and on the track.
BOYS
Mannon threw 159-4 to win the discus at the Cedarville Impson Invitational on Apr. 10, a PR that leads all Ohio freshmen in the event. The mark was the product of a quick build across three meets: he opened at 141-5.00 at the Shawnee HS Tri Meet on Apr. 1, improved to 153-9.00 at the Fairbanks HS Meet on Apr. 7, then added more than five feet at Cedarville. In the shot put he threw a PR of 47-3.25 at the same Cedarville meet, after going 43-6.00 on Apr. 1 and 46-7.00 on Apr. 7. Indoors this season he threw 43-8.25 at Nike Indoor Nationals on Mar. 12-15, finishing 52nd.
Stockman threw 153-6 for fourth place at the Wm. Ward/EP Girls Invitational on Apr. 11, a PR that ranks second among Ohio freshmen in the discus. He opened the season at 134-11.00 at the F.E. Cope Invitational on Apr. 2 before adding nearly 19 feet to his season best in nine days. In the shot put he threw a PR of 41-11.75 at the same Apr. 11 meet, after going 41-8 at the F.E. Cope Invitational on Apr. 2. Indoors this season he threw 40-1.50 at the Salem CenterPlex Indoor Shot Put Meet on Feb. 13, and 37-4.50 at the Mount Union HS Qualifier on Feb. 1. Mannon and Stockman currently sit first and second among Ohio freshmen in the discus, separated by 5-10.
GIRLS
Alexander cleared 5-4 for fourth place at the Hamilton Twp Quad Meet: East, Groveport, International on Apr. 7, a PR that ties her for first among Ohio freshmen in the high jump and even ties her fifth in the state regardless of grade. The mark was a significant step up from where she opened her spring campaign: she went 4-2 at the Groveport Tri-Meet on Mar. 31, then added 14 inches to her season best a week later. Her 2025 outdoor high jump best was 4-0 at the Granville MS Tri on Mar. 31, 2025.
Hogendoorn ran 12.31 to win the 100m at the Springboro JV Invitational on Apr. 10, a PR that ranks third among Ohio freshmen and ties her for 16th in the state. She also won the 200m at the same meet in a PR of 25.34. Her previous outdoor 100m best was 12.68 at the Jack Lintz Northmont Invitational on Apr. 4. Indoors this season she ran a 60m PR of 8.01 at the Wittenberg HS Open #2 on Feb. 1, after opening at 8.13 in early January.
