As the season is shaping up, here are four Ohio freshmen that are hitting their stride at the right time.

Thomas King
Watterson knew they were getting a good one. Thomas King became the third freshman this season to break the 16-minute barrier, running 15:55.20 at the Berlin Bear Den Dash. Looking at his middle school track performances, the success all makes sense. Competing for Saint Andrew Catholic School, he ran a blazing-fast personal best of 4:32.27 in the 1600m run.
Luke Brickner
Luke Brickner is doing everything to solidify his presence in Ohio. The Miller City freshman locked in a stellar performance at the Kalida Wildcat Invite, running 16:13.92, which puts him inside the top five of the OH freshmen class. Brickner already has plenty of championship race preparation from middle school, competing both years in the OHSAA 7th & 8th Grade Post Season Invitational. He also rocked the 800m-1600m at the state meet this past outdoor season.
Ellery Jepson
The races keep getting better for Ellery Jepson from Olen. Orange. She had an impressive breakthrough at the Berlin Bear Den Dash, running 18:08.10. This is currently the fastest freshmen time in Ohio this year. The next week Jepson followed this up in a loaded field, taking fourth in 18:19.40 at the Les Eisenhart Invitational. On the track, she has impressive personal bests of 5:10.57 (mile) and 11:32.47 (2 mile).
Emma McCormick
Watch the rise of Emma McCormick. The youngster from Sum. Co. Day gained momentum from finishing fourth place at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival, running 18:41.50. But she was just getting started. The Ross XC Invitational was her fastest and most recent performance, where she ran a new personal best of 18:30.40. McCormick holds personal-best times of 5:15.55 (1600m) and 2:28.99 (800m) on the track. She has also taken her talents to the field, holding a 14-2 personal best in the long jump.
