Ohio will be well represented at Saturday's Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon as two of the state's top athletes will test themselves against the best runners from throughout the country.
Dustin Horter, the current U.S. #3 in the 5K rankings, will be seeking his 7th straight race win. He's had an outstanding season, as he's captured victories at the DI Ohio State Championship, the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional and the Mid-East Championship among others. Horter has run sub 15 minutes in the 5K distance five times this season, highlighted by his 14:36.77 effort at the Midwest Meet of Champions. Horter's experience racing at Nike Cross Nationals in 2016 could pay dividends for him on Saturday.

Conant Smith is Ohio's top ranked junior athlete and he currently resides in 8th place in the national rankings for 2019 grads from his 15:00.10 result at the Greater Miami Conference CC Championships. Smith has recorded 7 race wins this season and in his most recent outings, he was 2nd at the DI Ohio State Championship and 3rd at the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional. In the latest Flo 50 Boys Individual Rankings, Smith was listed at #8 and on Saturday he'll have another opportunity to prove that he's one of the country's top up and coming runners.
