The course map for the 5k is attached to this email. We will have the 1k, 1 mile, and 2 mile course maps on milesplit and elksrunning.com by Friday September 24.
The course is in great shape and will be a exactly a 5k. We have measured it at the required 3.11 distance several times already and will take accurate measurement on Friday and Saturday mornings to ensure an accurate course for the athletes.
We have a new track at Centerville High School. The track surface is brand new and just finished two weeks ago. The track is in pristine shape and we would like to keep it that way. There are three times that the runners run on the track for approximately 300 meters. We are asking ALL coaches to help us enforce the 1/4 inch spike rule for this meet. There are no major uphills in this meet, there is no mud, there is no long grass, and realistically there is no need for anything longer than a 1/4 inch spike. We are instructing the officials to check spikes of the athletes 20 minutes before each race along with the normal check in procedure. Please relay this information to your runners.
One way traffic. The school driveway is one way. Tell your bus drivers that the entrance is on the right approximately 1 mile from State Route 48. Franklin Street is a two lane road through downtown Centerville heading eastbound. Have your bus drivers stay in the right lane.
Bus parking. This is the same as last year. The busses will drop off athletes back by the stadium. The busses will then be routed to park in front of the school. We have the capabilities to park over 50 busses in front of the school. They should park diagonally facing the return route to the back of the school. This will ensure that no bus has to back up once parked.
Parking. To help offset the cost of renting the lights this year we will be charging $5 for each car to park. Let your parents know that there is no individual admission fee once inside the high school. But we will have parking attendants charging $5 a car load before you enter the parking lots. As a bonus the cars will be receiving a coupon for $2 off a t-shirt.
Spectators. We have the same rules for spectators as last year. No spectators are allowed on the track or field turf areas. Each team will be given coaches passes and photographer passes for these areas.
Concessions are under the football stadium.
Restrooms are under the football stadium.
Training room is south of the stadium.
Team camps are permissible by the bell tower or between the stadium and the parking lot.
There is an EMT at the meet located by the hill.
This meet is chip timing. Which means in your packet you will receive a chip and a number for each athlete. Make sure the chip and number are assigned to each athlete. Please update your rosters before the deadline and erase anyone not running. We have to pay for chips unused still. After the runner finished he/she will put the timing chip in the bucket by the finish line. Please turn these in ASAP
Our medical (trainers) staff would like any extra pins after the meet. Please ask your runners to return your pins to the t-shirt booth after running.
We have a special exemption for jewelry for this race. Runners may wear watches in this race. And we sell glow-in-the-dark jewelry for this race too. This jewelry is allowed by OHSAA only for this race.
