Boys Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Alex Koksal (Lancaster), Evan Schwartz and Wade Westbrook (Whetstone), Sam Dixius (Kilbourne), David Oliver (Hayes), Dylan Lewis (Newark), Chris Quinn (St. Charles), Nick Shepherd (Westerville Central), Jeff Hannaford and Brian Hannaford (Westerville North), Ben Karn (Marysville), Taylor Conn and Tyler Conn (Teays Valley), Brady Prater (Wapakoneta), Andy Ackerman (Sandusky), Aaron Schenk (St. Francis DeSales-Toledo)

Prediction:

This should be Reynoldsburg race, and could be a statement race for them if they take it out and hammer the competition, telling the state that they are ready to contend for the state team title.  Pickerington North, Hilliad Darby and Hilliard Davidson could challange for the team title if Reynoldsburg faulters, but this really is Reynoldsburg's race to lose.  Pickerington North should finish second as they have been running well over the last month and have seemed to have found their stride.  Davidson will likely be third, ahead of that other Hilliard team, Hilliard Darby.  Darby will finish fourth, but will be challanged by Lexington, Sylvania Northview and both Dublin teams, Coffman and Jerome.

Girls Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Michelle Thomas and Stephanie Stoffel (Glen Este), Claudia Saunders (Princeton), Allison Stillwell (Tri-Valley), Stephanie Smith and Samantha Smith (Newark), Jetti Laggah (Northland), Katie Beetner (Olentangy Liberty), Tess Hoogeveen (Westerville South), Brooke Brown and Elaine Dietsch (Marysville), Kay Kay Garber (Gahanna Lincoln), Tisha Grove (Logan),  Shannon Kelleher (Hilliard Darby), Kaitlyn Meyer (Pickerington Central), Allie McRitchie and Kellie Arter (Lancaster)

Prediction:

This race will have six teams ranked in the October 15th OATCCC Coaches Poll competing for four spots.  The top spot is up for grabs, but will likely go to either Oak Hills or Upper Arlington, with Mason and Kings having a shot at taking home the team title also.  If the first five girls from Upper Arlington can run at or near their seasonal best times, they should win this close battle with Oak Hills.  But if Oak Hills can run like they have the last few weeks, Oak HIlls looks like the favorite.  Look for Oak Hills to take the Central Regional Team Title back to Southwest Ohio, with Upper Arlington within a three points team wise of Oak Hills.  And just like last year, look for three Cincinnati are teams to qualify for the State Meet from the Central Region.  Mason and Kings will battle again for the two final spots, with Mason finishing third due to a better first runner, and Kings finishing fourth.  Hilliard Davidson and Thomas Worthington could both upset either Mason or Kings, but they will have to run season best times to do so.

Boys Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Zach Howard (Amanda-Clearcreek), Danny Meyung (Olentangy Orange), Sean Jones (Indian Valley), Derrick Sproul (Harrison Central), Zachary Geiger (John Glenn), Cedric Robinson (Martins Ferry), Jared Zollers (West Holmes), DJ Pleshinger (Dover), Phillip Schwartz (New Philadelphia), Adam Stumbo (Ironton), Kevin Thompson (Alexander), Rob King (Miami Trace), Josh Joosse and Matt Boedeker (Zane Trace)

Prediction:

River Valley-Caledonia, Unioto and St. Clairsville all have legitimate shots at taking home the Regional Championship.  This really could be a toss up as all teams, but I'm taking Unioto to take home the team title, while St. Clairsville is a close second.  River Valley will likely finish third, while the fourth spot is a fight between five teams.  Bexley, Granville, Claymont, Circleville, and River View will all vie for the fourth and final spot that gets to advance to Scioto Downs.  This race should ultimatley come down to whether Granville's pack can get in before River View's third runner, if they can look for Granville to continue running in November, by finishing fourth.

Individual Qualifiers:

Melissa Thompson and Claire Koberman (St. Francis DeSales-Columbus), Catie Campbell (Licking Heights), Emily McCall (Heath), Amanda Badertscher (River Valley-Caledonia), Julie Richards (Circleville), Halle Richards (Vincent Warren), Sammantha Stroker (Miami Trace), Melanie Wollenberg (New Lexington), Kira Dillon (Fairland), Taylor Mullins (Wellston), Aubrey Miller (Sheridan), Brianna Stevens (River View), Lisa Zimmerman (East Liverpool), Rachel Beam and Kaci Jago (Morgan), Dana Markley (Ridgewood), Chelsea Furda (Indian Creek), Breanna Davis (Indian Valley), Courtney Oliver (Tuscarawas Valley), Jensen Buchanan (Maysville), Kaitlyn Dettra (Meadowbrook)

Prediction:

The top three spots could all come from the same district race.  At their district race, Canal Winchester beat both Johnstown-Monroe and Granville.  Granville may need to have four or five runners PR to get a sniff at the team title, but they do have a shot.  The real race for the top spot will be between Canal Winchester and Johnstown-Monroe.  CW has the front runners that will score low, but J-M has a pack that could put all seven of their runners in front of CW's fifth finisher, and maybe even their fourth finisher if they keep improving on their times from the district race.  Canal Winchester should take home the team title, but I do like Johnstown-Monroe to finish in the runner up spot.  Look for Granville to finish third, while St. Clairsville, Gallia Academy and Marietta battle for the final spot.  But if St. Clairsville can keep their top five girls under 21 minutes they will be running at Scioto Downs.

Boys Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Bryson Wade and Jason Snider (Newark Catholic), Suart Baker (Millersport), Eric Hamann (Fisher Catholic), Rober Reed (Bishop Ready), Sam Power (Fairbanks), Michael Berger (Columbus Academy), Ryan Venrick and James Whitt (Berne Union), Jordan Selbee (Eastern-Beaver), Kyle Goode (Southern-Racine), Justin Kammler (Notre Dame), Adam Parlin (Wheelersburg), Chris Nye (Hiland), Keith Aeiker (Hiland), Braydon Gates (Belpre)

Prediction:

St. John's Central will be able to curise in this race on their way to Scioto Downs.  The real race will between Grandview Heights, Sandy Valley, Fredericktown and Caldwell for the final three spots. After Grandview Heights dominating performance at the district meet, they would step in to the top spot if St. John's Central faulters.  Grandview Heights should be a lock through for a top two finish, based upon what they did at their district meet.  For the final two spots I like Fredericktown to finish third, with Caldwell beating out Sandy Valley because of their strong pack.

Individual Qualifiers:

Emily Skidmore and Hannah Shull (Alexander), Sarah Blatt (River),  Brittany Piccone (Crooksville), Taylor Hacker (Ironton), Breanna Butler (Oak Hill), Jillian Pawloski (Fort Frye), Sarah Ruggles (Wheelersburg), Rachel Appleton (Notre Dame), Emeri Connery (Eastern-Reedsville), Shana Pramik and Allison Heath (Bellaire), Jillian Laslo (Shadyside), Kayla Mohr and Leslie Stiffler (Elgin), Krista Mathews and Tricia Steffen (Liberty Union), Hannah Stefanoff (Grandview Heights), Crystal Wise (Fredericktown), Margaret Coons and Nicole Humphrey (Columbus Academy), Alexandria Reasoner (Millersport), Brett Teiga and Elizabeth Holsopple (Centerburg)

Prediction:

This looks like it could be all the teams that won their district that have a shot at getting out of this region.  Sandy Valley, Newark Catholic, Garaway and Northmor seem to be pretty evenly matched.  Look for the girls from Newark Catholic to continue their strong efforts in the post season and take home the regional team title.  Sandy Valley looks like the next best team with four girls under 21, if their fifth runner runs well they could challange for the team title, but Sandy Valley will likely have to settle for second.  Northmor should finish comfortably in third if their fifth runner can finish within a minute of their top runner and keep their spread under 60 seconds.  While Fisher Catholic will likely upset Garaway to take the fourth and final qualifying spot, by trying to have their runners match up with the Newark Catholic girls.
