Derek Amicon has taken eight wins on the season, but none were bigger than his latest 1st place showing at the D3 State Championship meet.
The junior from Grandview Heights, who established his PR of 15:36.60 during District round action, poured it on late at the National Trail Raceway and crossed the line first with a 15:42.50 clocking.
The state title punctuates an impressive 2019 XC campaign that saw Amicon finish no lower than runner-up in any of his dozen race starts.
