On Thursday, it was announced by the Elks coaching staff that the 2020 edition of Centerville's Saturday Night Lights meet would be cancelled.

The news, while disappointing doesn't necessarily come as a surprise, as it follows recent protocol established by the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) that their member teams will compete only within league play for all sports this fall.

Unquestionably one of the Midwest region's premier meets, SNL, as it's often called, offers outstanding hospitality, a lively atmosphere, a talent-rich pool of athletes and a fast track-based finish, among many other qualities, which have teams from throughout Ohio and neighboring states vying to return year-after-year.

In our recent 2020 cross country returners listings, six of the top seven times on the girl's side stemmed from the 2019 installment of Saturday Night Lights, along with the top overall boys mark, 15:11.30 by Uniontown-Lake High School's Nathan Moore

Review below a summary of the GWOC's decision to only permit inter-league play this fall, written by Centerville High School's athletic director, Rob Dement.

Note that teams from throughout the conference will be eligible to compete in OHSAA postseason play. The 2020 Saturday Night Lights meet was scheduled for September 26th.
