D2 State Champ Grace Hartman Enters Midwest Challenge Field

Register For Midwest High School Challenge

The ladies line-up for the upcoming Midwest High School XC Challenge added some serious firepower with the inclusion of Grace Hartman into the ranks.

The junior from Oakwood collected six individual race victories this season with none bigger than her OHSAA Division 2 triumph two weeks ago at Fortress Obetz, where she clocked 18:04.10 to edge two-time state titlist Ella Gilson at the line.

Hartman is the top seed among the current list of entries, but she'll have her hands full on race day with a roster that includes Wisconsin's Division 1 state meet runner-up Brooke Edwardson, along with a host of Ohio's top ranked runners.

Hartman owns a season's best mark of 17:56.40 and a career best time of 17:31.10 from Saturday Night Lights in 2019.

MileSplit Ohio reached out to Hartman to learn about how training has been going of late and to hear what her goals are for next weekend's meet.

"It has been a very long season with a lot of ups and downs for everybody, but nevertheless training has been going incredibly well and I look forward to capping it off with a strong race at Springfield!"

"It's a very nice course and there looks to be some excellent competition at this race that I look forward to running with, so I'm looking to finish off my junior cross country season on a positive note heading into track!"
