Going The Distance

After a stellar cross-country season, it was inevitable that he was going to be a force to be reckoned these next few months.

Hilliard Davidson senior and Syracuse University signee Connor Ackley continued his domination in his discipline, winning both the 1600m Run (4:07.51) and the 3200m Run (9:04.00), setting a new state record across all divisions in the 1600m. This performance took down the previous record by a hundredth of a second, which was held by Dustin Horter back in 2018.

During the 3200m Run though, it was quite an interesting one to witness, as Mas. Jackson sophomore, Eli Ilg, took it out from the gun, and valiantly opened up a massive 80-100m lead from the entire pack and holding it for more than over half of the race, later being caught by the chase pack lead by Ackley, who managed to hold off Wor. Kilbourne's Ryan Smith, who gave him a run for his money for the last bit of the race.

While this section was mainly about Connor Ackley's double, personal honorable mentions to both Eli Ilg and Ryan Smith.
