Preview: All Eyes on Amherst for 69th Comet Relays

---

Now in its 69th year, the Comet Relays have grown into one of Ohio's most celebrated outdoor track and field events-a meet where history, community, and elite competition collide. What began as a spark of inspiration in 1955, when legendary Amherst coaches Jack Wilhelm and Richard Cooley visited the Ohio Wesleyan Relays, has blossomed into a spring tradition in Lorain County. Named in part for Cooley himself, the event has become a proving ground for top-tier talent, a festival of team spirit, and a showcase of the best the sport has to offer.

That legacy continues in 2025, as the latest edition of the Comet Relays returns to Amherst with another loaded field of athletes and programs from across the state. With a unique format that emphasizes team depth and relay strength, the meet stands out as more than just another Saturday on the track. As always, fans can expect fast times, thrilling exchanges, and the electric atmosphere that only the Comet Relays can deliver.

This preview is based on the entries for the meet on 4/22. Any posted entries after may not be included in the preview.
