WHAT THE STATE MEET LEFT
Here is what you should know
The OHSAA 7th and 8th Grade State Championships ran May 16, and after the dust settled, the Ohio middle school girls leaderboards looked a lot different.
Nora Morrow of Wyoming MS leads Ohio middle school girls in the 100m (12.06) and 200m (25.28), marks she set in April. She did not compete at the state meet on May 16, but rather at the CHL Middle School Championships on May 11. Last year she won the state 100m in 12.31.
The OHSAA 100m was won by Chloe Chappel of Stivers in 12.40 - the fastest 100m run at the state meet and now 2nd on the Ohio leaderboard behind Morrow's April mark. She has been competing at AAU meets going back to 2021 and earlier this spring she ran 25.69 in the 200m and her school's 4x100 team sits 4th in Ohio at 51.17.
Rhi'Lynn White of New Albany MS leads Ohio middle school girls in both hurdles events. She ran 14.12 in the 100mH at the Worthington Invitational on May 9 and 28.23 in the 200mH at state on May 16. Last year she won both state hurdles events - 100mH in 14.32 and 200mH in 28.55. She has improved in both this season and has also run 12.42 in the 100m at the Worthington Invitational, 3rd in Ohio in that event as well.
The relays belonged to Princeton MS. They won the state 4x100 in 49.48 - the top mark in Ohio - and also lead the state 4x200 at 1:46.70, run at the Milford MS Invitational on May 8. Louisville MS won the state 4x200 in 1:48.21. The 4x400 was won by Cent. Watts MS in 4:10.16, but the top Ohio mark in that event belongs to Columbus School for Girls MS - 4:08.13, run at a small invitational on Apr 23 - a mark that has led the state leaderboard ever since without being tested at the biggest meet of the year.
Eight of the top nine Ohio girls 4x400 marks this season were set at state on the same day: Cent. Watts MS (4:10.16), Louisville (4:11.83), Ottawa-Glandorf (4:12.08), New Albany (4:12.58), Alexander (4:13.73), Avon MS (4:14.24), Olen. Shanahan MS (4:15.76) and Kenston MS (4:15.91).
