2012 College Signings: Why They Chose Their Schools

Peyton Adkins on why she chose Ohio University

"Signing with Ohio University was an easy decision for me.  Growing up in Southeastern Ohio makes Athens feel like the perfect fit for me.  Being close to home will allow my family and friends to see me run.  I wanted a school to challenge me both academically as well as athletically.  I'm really excited for the chance to run with my older sister Lauren.  She's been the biggest influence in my running career, and we're very close.  Following my sister to the OU meets has given me the chance to get to know my future teammates and coaches quite well, and I can't wait to become part of their family.

One of the biggest factors in my decision was the fact that I'll be running with a very talented team.  Four girls that I met while running in the Mideast Championships will be running for OU next year, and adding us to a very talented veterans squad will hopefully allow us to contend for a MAC title in Cross Country and a chance  to qualify as a team to the NCAA's."
