The Ohio High School 2015 Cross Country season begins this weekend with the OHSAA Early Season Invitational at National Trails Raceway. This year, five of six champions return in the six Divisions. Here is a short Preseason preview of the Individuals and Teams by Division.

Mason Sr. Meagan Murphy (18:08.64) has the fastest returning time with Highland -Medina Sr. Carlee Rhoads questionable for the Cross season. Centerville Sr. Lainey Studebaker however, is the defending D1 State Champion 18:09.43). Murphy was 4th in the State Meet (18:20.90)

Ohio's Top 10 Girls Performances of the week (4/27-5/2) Mark Stonecipher May 5, 2015

Seven new OH #1's were run. Liberty-Benton Jr. Michaela Butler ran an 11.94 in the 100m. Sr. Frances Bull of Lake Catholic ran an OH #1 in the 400m with a 55.81. Jr. Lainey Studebaker of Centerville ran the #1 800 with an 2:12.57. Withrow Sr. Ayanna O'Neal ran the OH #1 in the 100mH with a 14.06. Dublin Coffman Sr. Oyesade Olatoye threw an OH #1 in the Discuss with a throw of 155-4. The Withrow girls ran two OH #1's in the 4x100 (46.96) and the 4x400 (3:56.57).

10th Annual Centerville Stampede Scheduled for September Mar 21, 2013

Centerville High School in Centerville, Ohio is hosting its 10th Annual Centerville Stampede on Saturday, September 21, 2013.  The meet features top performers from Ohio and Michigan.  Centerville's David Dobson, the coach of the Centerville girls cross-country team, said the school hopes to include more Indiana schools this year.  In the past, conflicts with other major Indiana meets meant Indiana schools were under-represented at the meet.  Now, thanks to some scheduling changes, Dobson said he hopes more Indiana schools will accept their invitiation to join them in September.

2012 Wayne Invitational Preview Michael Fernandez Apr 22, 2012

With 41 schools and 17 conferences represented, the Wayne Invitational will have interest piqued across the state.  The meet has grown to one of the premeir events to showcase talented teams and individuals in Southwestern Ohio as well as across the state.  This meet will be a true balance of sprints, hurdles, distance and field events.  The team championship is truly up for grabs, for both boys and girls.

Ohio Boys in the Top 100 National Rankings Apr 19, 2009

Ohio Boys that are ranked in the top 100 nationally as of 4/19/09.  Ohio is well represented in the high jump and both the shot in discus.  Justin Welch is the current leader in the Hammer Throw, and Shawn Roberts has the second fastest time in the 2000m steeplechase in the nation.  Danny Neff has the 4th best time in the Mile/1600 and Erik Kynard has the 4th best High Jump

Centerville Track team collects books for Children's Medical Center Contributor Aleman Mar 4, 2009

Sometimes when things go well, they go VERY well.  That was the case last spring when the Centerville Track and Field athletes sponsored the first Race2Read.  The Race2Read is a friendly competition between the Centerville Track teams and the Wayne High School Track teams to collect books for the patients at Children’s Medical Center.  The teams set a goal last year to collect 1,000 books.  But in the end, they took 2,862 books to Children’s Medical Center.  Is there any way to top that?

With one month to go until the OATCCC Indoor State meet, many student athletes put up some great times and marks.  A total of 30 new Ohio #1 marks were set this weekend, with 25 of those marks being OATCCC Indoor State Meet events.

Carmel (IN) Takes Title at Asics Hot Summer Bash in Ohio Scott Bush Aug 24, 2008

The cross country season got underway Saturday, as the Asics Hot Summer Bash took place in Ohio. This annual events hosts many of the top teams from Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. This time around, Carmel (IN) won the 5k event in convincing fashion, placing their scoring five in the top 14. Medina's Donny Roys won the overall title in 15:58.

WarriorElk Challange Collects Over 2,800 Books for Children's Medical Center May 14, 2008

The dual meet called the WarriorElk Challange: Race2Read Dual was a huge success in its first year. At final count the two teams came together to donate a whopping 2,862 books to the Children's Medical Center in Dayton Ohio. Following the success of the Volley For The Cure in the fall, head coaches, Mike Fernandez of Wayne and Matt Somerlot of Centerville, wanted to create a dual meet for their two teams to compete in that would also give back to the community in some way.

Road to Portland: NTN Midwest Regional Scott Bush Nov 8, 2007

(U.S. #6 Westfield (IN) Heading to NTN Midwest) The first set of NTN Regionals takes place this weekend.  In the Midwest, while five states represent the region, only three states are allowed to travel to Terre Haute, Indiana for the meet.  Illinois, Indiana and Ohio are the three states and each looks to qualify at least one team to Portland.
