Boys Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Josh Clemence (Firestone), Chase Harshbarger and Jason Green (Hoban), Adam Graf and Bobby Over (Wadsworth), Bret Nehrenz (Cloverleaf), Jack St. Marie (Westlake), David Gundich (John Marshall), Brian Budic (Olmsted Falls), Danny Bullard (North Olmsted), Adam Bess and Sam Meier (Clay-Oregon), Evan Lepolt (Perrysburg), Willy Fink (Bowsher)

Prediction:

This race will have one of the best individual race with Yarnell and Roys going head to head.  Roys rolled at his Conference meet, running by himself to post a 15:12, and Yarnell was pushed by Elyria Catholic's Marty Coolidge at the All Ohio Catholic to run a 15:17.  If these two take the pace out hard from the get go, look for them to both go in the low 15's.  In the team race, St. Johns Jesuit should be able to capture the team title.  Medina will have to have a perfect race to upset St. JJ here, and will likely finish in second.  St. Ignatius, and their strong pack will likely finish third.  The final spot is the toss up here, BB Heights, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson and Green all have decent shots at qualifying. Cuyahoga Falls has the best group of front runners, with three runners that could all finish in the top 10 at the regional, if their fourth and fifth runners can drop some time, Cuyahoga Falls could get out.  As of now it looks like BB Heights and Green will be the two real contenders for the final spot.  Green's two front runners trump BB Heights tight middle pack, so look for Green in the fourth and final qualifying spot beating out both Cuyahoga Falls and BB Heights, just like at their district meet.

Girls Race

Individual Qualifers:

Katie Reid and Emily Green (Marion Harding), Kaylee Fisher (Wapakoneta), Logan Hamel (Whitmer), Katie Ott (Springfield-Holland), Molly Traudt (St. Ursula Academy-Toledo), Alyssa Miller (Anthony Wayne), Marisa Papp, Lauren Buser and Krista Roehling (Green), Kayleigh Scourfield and Allison Hainer (Cuyahoga Falls), Katie Webb (Copley), Rachel Botoulas (Olmsted Falls), Sophia Kopasakis (Westlake), Britney March (Elyria)

Prediction:

There are really six teams fighting over four spots in this regional battle.  If BB Heights just ran to qualify last weekend, and are ready to roll this weekend they will be able to battle for the team title with Medina and Notre Dame Academy.  This is really Medina's race to lose, as they are the favorites going into the Regional.  Look for Medina to win the team title with Notre Dame Academy in second, while BB Heights finishes in third.  The final spot comes down to three teams, Sylvania Northview, Hudson, and Stow-Munroe Falls.  Hudson ran well at their district meet, even beating BB Heights, but will likely finish in fourth taking the final qualifying spot in the region.

Boys Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Kyle Miller and Brad Ferguson (Buckeye-Medina), Andy Ventura and Tyler Kvach (Avon), Nicholas Jeffers (Firelands),  Angel Senquiz (Clearview), Nate Jackson and Casey Nickler (Bucyrus), Aaron Williams (Galion), Carl Hokes (Norwalk), Sam Howard and Nick Boehler (Columbian), David Schoonover (Otsego), Anthony Monaco (Port Clinton), Dan Robaszkiewicz (Genoa Area), Shawn Bryant (Rossford), Adam Smercina and Tyler Eoff (Oak Harbor), Louis Szilagyi (Lake-Millbury), Matt Schlunker (Elida), Tyler Verhoff (Ottawa-Glandorf), Michael Becker (Wauseon), Derek Snider (Kenton)

Prediction:

Defiance is the clear cut favorite in this race.  After that it is a toss up.  Willard is coming off of a good showing at their District, and if they can keep that up, they have a good shot at getting out.  If Toledo Central Catholic runs at or near their PR's they, too, should get out.  Bay just beat Elyria Catholic at their District meet on a sixth place tie breaker.  It likely won't come down to a tie breaker at the regional meet, but both teams are going to have to run better as a whole to be able to continue running in November.  Look for Bay to have a much better meet and take the runner up spot.  I like Willard in third, as they are running at thier best right now.  In fourth will likely be Toledo Central Catholic.  Elyria Catholic could wreak some havoc on these results, as they seem to do well on fast courses, such as Tiffin, but they are going to have to a solid meet all around to do be able to move on to Scioto Downs.

Girls Race

Individual Qualifers:

Jessica Zangmeister (Fairview), Michelle Clark (Elyria Catholic), Nikki Blair (Keystone), Brianna Shaw (Clearview), Catherine Benedict (Holy Name), Halee Stief and Cali Perkins (Upper Sandusky), Brittany Johnson (Ontario), Shauna Supeck (Norwalk), Haley Lykins and Megan Boggs (Shelby), Ashley Alejandro and Taylor Ebert (Clyde), Kasey Geraghty (Rossford), Colleen Valko and Mercedes Specht (Bellevue), Andrea Glenn (Lima Shawnee), Kristi Steva (St. Mary's Memorial),  Jessica Kern (Delta), McKenzie Frazer (Bryan)

Prediction:

From the onset this looks like a straight forward race to call.  Rocky River takes the team title if they have a good race, plain and simple.  Milan could sneak in there and mix things up if Rocky River faulters, but assuming Rocky River has a solid race, Milan should be second.  Wauseon and Defiance mixed it up at their District meet with Wauseon coming out on top by just a point, 55-56.  Look for Defiance to rebound in the larger meet and finish third, with Wauseon in fourth.

Boys Race

Individual Qualifiers:

Zachary Poigon (Liberty Center), Matthew Herron (Bluffton), Sebastian Rue (Ayersville), Dakota Reid (Hicksville), Josh Hilton (Antwerp), Dylan Worley (Swanton), Caleb Burkey (Allen East), Karl Klopfenstein (Wayne Trace), Dakota Esterline (Pioneer North), Elias Dandar (Gibsonburg), Kyle Babcock and Daniel Limon (Lakota), Jamison Brickner (Calvert), Nick Lowy (Huron), Mark Benton and Quinn Noel (St. Wendelin), Michael Grunden (Margaretta), Brock Avers (Woodmore), Nathan Schalk (New Riegel), Max Celek (St. Joseph Central Catholic), Jeffrey Senecal (North Baltimore)

Prediction:

The race for the team title will come down to Delta and Elmwood.  Elmwood has the better front runners, while Delta has the better pack.  Look for this to be a fight, with the team that doesn't make a mistake coming out on top.  If this race comes down to a sixth place tie breaker the nod goes to Delta, but if it is a straight out battle, look for Elmwood to edge out Delta for the Regional team title.  Third and fourth places have many teams that could fit into the final two spots.  Liberty-Benton, Lima Central Catholic, Gorham-Fayette, Hilltop and Stryker will all do battle for the last two qualifying places.  The two teams that look the best right now are Stryker and Hilltop.  Look for Hilltop to really race the team from Stryker.  Hilltop is going to have to do one of two things to finish in third, the first being putting their third runner in front of Strykers number two runner, or put their fourth runner in front of Strykers fourth runner.  Either one of these, and Hilltop is in third and Stryker finishes fourth.  Hilltop can likely do one of these, so look for Hilltop to finish in third, with Stryker in fourth.

Girls Race

Individual Qualifers:

Katie Borgelt and Shelby Wilson (McComb), Chelsea Reese (Patrick Henry), Ashley Lowe (Swanton), Dani Bassous (Ayersville), Ashley Sprunger and Sarah Flickinger (Pandora-Gilboa), Alexis Godeke and Elise Wetli (Antwerp), Grace Ebersole (Pioneer North), Ashley Meyer (Tinora), Simone Eli (Genoa Area), Lindsay Kaatz (St. Mary Central Catholic), Samantha Hoffman (Gibsonburg), Cassie Rinehart (Hopewell-Loudon), Courtney Orshoski (Margaretta), Elizabeth Buchman and Molly Chambers (Calvert), Rachel Schaffer (Monroeville)

Prediction:

This looks like a race with clear cut teams that will fall into place nicely.  Ottoville, coming off of a 20 point district showing, will likely take home the team title if they keep running the way that they did last week.  Liberty-Benton should fall into the runner up position, but if their runners can run at or near their PRs they could challenge Ottoville for the team title.  Third place is a toss up between Woodmore and Lakota.  Woodmore is a solid team, three girls sub 20, and then two girls sub 22.  If their four and five runners have a good meet, they are a lock to make it out, and will likely finish third.  The final spot should go to Lakota, as they are the only other team (besides the teams already mentioned) that have five runners that have all gone sub 22 this year.  Teams that could challenge for the fourth and final spot are Elmwood and Old Fort.  Elmwood stayed close to Lakota at their District meet, and if they run really well, they could find themselves running in November.  Old Fort has four solid lead runners that have all gone sub 21, but they need to find a fifth.  If they have a fifth runner that could go at or near 22, they would likely make it to Scioto Downs, but the final spot goes to Lakota.
