OHSAA State Meet: Bold Predictions And Events To Watch

Seated Events

Athletes To Watch

Jaydon Jenkins, Bloomdale Elmwood

Brooklynn Crist, Cloverleaf

Jacob Baker, Carrollton

Bradley Landon, Mount Gilead

State records (yes, plural) are about to go down in the seated events.

On the boys side, three young men come in seeded under 18 seconds in the 100 meter dash. Carrollton's Jacob Baker leads the way with his 17.86 mark. The state meet record is 17.10 and overall record is 16.97. The 400 is also in danger as Elmwood's Jaydon Jenkins has a seed time of 1:00.82 and is staring down the meet and overall record of 57.75. His 2:03.06 mark also has him in striking distance of the 2:01.74 meet and overall record in the 800. Mount Gilead's Bradley Landon has eyes on the shot put record, as well, as his 22-7.75 best is not too far off of the state meet record of 24-8.75.

On the girls side, Brooklynn Crist is the big name competing in the 100, 400, 800, and shot put. The top seed in the three track events, Crist is only 0.05 seconds off the state record in the 100. She is the second seed in the shot put behind Otsego's Abigail Case. Case enters with a 16-4 throw and is the only non-Crist favorite in the four seated events.
