Right around this date last year, the 2019 outdoor season really began heating up. The Eastern Relays had taken place the week before and Wayne had just wrapped up their two-day Invitational, so individual leaderboards were stabilizing and teams across the state were setting themselves up for postseason action, which was just a few weeks away.
Our coverage stop on April 27th was at Thomas Worthington for the Gary Smith Invite, which played host to several athletes who would eventually go on to strike gold at the OHSAA State Championships a few months later.
