Adidas Saturday Night Lights IV

The Boys Division 1 champion, Doug Norris (Vandalia-Butler) summed up the 4th edition of the Saturday Night Lights race at Centerville by saying "You know when your coach tells you 'Just have fun' at a meet?  Well this meet actually is fun."   Norris took the lead just before coming through the mile at around 5:00 and held onto the lead the rest of the way, crossing the 2-mile mark at 10:03 and taking top honors by running 15:56.73.  Norris recalled his race by saying,  "It was good to win and run well, but the second place finisher (Sean Vandermosten of Connor, KY) really pushed me and made it a battle all the way to the finish."  Lakota West (D1 #17) made a strong case to jump up in the standings by winning the Boys Division 1 race, 76-90 over Kentucky's #2 ranked team Connor High School.  Lakota West was able to put three runners in the top 10 and all three were under 16:10.  West Virginia's #2 ranked team, Cabell Midland finished 4th with 136 points.

In the Girls Division 1 race Kings started off strong by having three runners in the top five runners through the first mile (5:46) and was able to put six runners in the top 20, and all six runners ran sub 20 as well.  The lead pack broke away from the field just after the mile with Chardon's Corrine Kule, Kings' Paige Miller and Lauren Goodwin, Tecumseh's Jasmine Redman and Cabell Midland's Jorden Thornton all jockeyed for position throughout the second and third miles.  Kule ended up coming away with the victory, just holding off Redman, by finishing in 19:05.58 to Redman's 19:06.79.
