The Boys Division 1 champion, Doug Norris (Vandalia-Butler) summed up the 4th edition of the Saturday Night Lights race at Centerville by saying "You know when your coach tells you 'Just have fun' at a meet? Well this meet actually is fun." Norris took the lead just before coming through the mile at around 5:00 and held onto the lead the rest of the way, crossing the 2-mile mark at 10:03 and taking top honors by running 15:56.73. Norris recalled his race by saying, "It was good to win and run well, but the second place finisher (Sean Vandermosten of Connor, KY) really pushed me and made it a battle all the way to the finish." Lakota West (D1 #17) made a strong case to jump up in the standings by winning the Boys Division 1 race, 76-90 over Kentucky's #2 ranked team Connor High School. US #1 Zach Wills, Mason, rocked the Heartland with a 14:54.80 5k performance to top Footlocker Finalist Futsum Zeinasellassie, North Central, by 20 seconds! This time is the fastest 5000 meter run so far this year. Lots of speculation came our way when we ranked Wills #1 in the nation, in particular from Futsum country. Confirming our decision, Wills continues his path of destruction against national competition. Another surprise of the meet was that Sylvania Northview (D1 #4), who finished 4th, beat Mason (D1 #3), who finished 8th, by 47 points!
