Xavier Preston kicked off his 2022 indoor campaign in a big way last Friday at NEOITC Series Blue Division.
The senior from Stow-Munroe Falls pocketed a pair of event victories, the 200 along with the 60m dash. During the former, he clocked 22.03, which stands as the state's second best mark to date this season. Preston finds himself in elite company at the top of the leaderboard, as he trails only national talent Justin Braun and his 21.29 effort at the VA Showcase.
Preston's recent history suggests that his 22.03 opener is just the beginning. Last year he took runner-up honors at the OATCCC Division I State Finale and he went under the 22 second standard on a trio of occasions.
Preston launched Blue Division No. 1 via his 6.97 60m mark en route to an emphatic win.
