Following exceptional distance and sprint-based performances, Katie Clute and Mason Louis have secured the latest MileSplit Ohio Performer of the Week wins.
Clute, a junior from Olmsted Falls, established a new personal best 3200 meter mark of 10:19.53 to win the highly competitive event, which included many notable athletes from surrounding states, at the Scholastic Showcase.
Her effort stands as an Ohio No. 1 by a significant margin for the 2022 indoor season and also checks-in at No. 1 on the national leaderboard.
Clute's time lowered her all-time best by 19-seconds. She owned an already impressive best of 10:38.03 (at the '21 edition of the Showcase) prior to her most recent work at SPIRE.
Louis opened his 2022 campaign in a big way at the Scholastic Showcase with efforts in the 400m and 200m events. He had a solid showing in the 200, a 22.43 mark for 11th overall against a talent-rich field, but it was in the 400 that he really shined.
The Bexley junior crossed the line in 3rd position with a state best 48.45 clocking. His performance represents a PR (inside) and the third rated time nation-wide among members of the 2023 graduating class.
