Nolan Landis shown competing during the 2017 outdoor season.
Nolan Landis got his 2018 outdoor season off to an impressive start at the NEOITC Meet in Geneva, as the junior won the discus and shot put events with big throws of 191-3.75 and 56-5.25, respectively. His discus result represents an Ohio No. 1, a US No. 3 and a new pr. Landis' shot put mark is not far off his indoor personal best of 58-10, which he achieved at the OATCCC State Championship on March 3rd. Monday's shot put competition took place inside the SPIRE Institute.
MileSplit Ohio had a chance to catch up with Nolan following his excellent early season showing to gain more insight on his discus performance:
"Discus is my favorite event and I was excited to compete again. Due to being in familiar territory at SPIRE, I was very comfortable throwing. There was no pressure, the meet was simply fun competition while representing my new team, the Madison Blue Streaks. I went into the meet hoping for a new pr, but I didn't expect to throw 191+. I plan on entering more meets now with the mindset of 'relax and have fun'."
