Nick Plant's torrid season continued last Saturday at the WATTS during the Youngstown State High School Meet No. 4. The Virginia Tech recruit won for his fourth time individually in as many outings during the 2022 indoor campaign with a National No. 5 effort in the 800 meter contest.
Plant cruised through the finish line with a 1:52.60 mark to establish a new facility record for high school competitors. Who's record did he overtake, you may be wondering? His own.
Prior to his work on Saturday, Plant's most recent 800m start was at YSU No. 2, where he initially set the site's standard at 1:53.10.
His additional races in '22 have been a pair of 1600m wins at SPIRE, 4:19 flat at the Ohio Preview Meet and 4:14.16 at the Scholastic Showcase. Aside from solo racing, Plant often suits up for the formidable Canfield 4x800 relay team.
