We started the Cross Country season back in August in Ohio's hot and humid weather. Watkins Memorial Sr. Andrew Jordan will welcome that weather again December 12th at the footlocker National Championship in San Diego. Today however, in sub freezing temperatures in Wisconsin, he ran 4th in the Footlocker Midwest Regional, just 2.1 seconds back of the winner, Jonathan Davis of Oakwood, IL.
This is about our Senior Girls. Every year Ohio has some of the Nations best High School girls Cross Country runners. We had some great performances last weekend at the State Meet. Six Senior girls ran Top 30 times for the week and it was a hugh weekend of State Meets across the country.

Oakwood's Mary Kate Vaughn, despite being stuck in the mud and falling at the start of the NXN girl's race, plodded her way through the mud and water, working her way up to a 27th place finish in a time of 20:21. As a Freshman, she has continued to improve each and every race and has proven herself to be one of the premier freshman girl's in the nation.
Oakwood's sensational freshman, Mary Kate Vaughn, has a State leading XC time of 17:37.00. She is hard working and confident. She is undefeated thus far this season in D2 and in cross-divisional races. Her goal for the remainder of this XC season is to stay healthy and to lead her team to qualify for the state meet. She wants to continue to run sub-18:00 times and to contend for the State D2 title. As she continues to gain exprience, she may not only contend for the title in Novmember, but she just may be the one to beat.

National meets and the last in-state qualifier for the OATCCC Ohio Indoor State Championship Meet are in store for this edition of the weekend wrap up. Ohio seemed to have a minimal amount of entries in the national meets, but there were still some top notch athletes trying to make their mark on the national scene.
