Men's Cross Country Runs Well in The Limelight Of National Catholic Meet Sep 17, 2010

Going up against some of the best Division I and II teams in the country had a nice effect on the John Carroll men's cross country team, as the Blue Streaks placed 13th of 25 teams in the college division of the 2010 National Catholic Championships held Friday at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.

Last year, both the men's and women's teams finished in ninth place out of ten teams and were seemingly an afterthought in the grand scheme. JCU hopes to make a lot more noise in this go-around.

With all the schools in all the divisions competing from across the state, the John Carroll women's cross country team received its sternest test of the season, placing 11th among Division III schools and 20th overall at the 2009 Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships held Friday afternoon at the Methodist Theological School and Delaware Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.

John Carroll University senior center Joe Micca has been selected as a nominee for the 2009 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team for his efforts on the field and in the community. John Carroll University sophomore Alicia Giannell was one of 274 student-athletes named to the 2009 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association women’s Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team. Laying claim as the first undefeated football team in school history, the 1959 edition of the Blue Streaks has earned induction into the John Carroll University Athletic Hall of Fame.
